Guided by Sarah - Therapy & Coaching with Sarah Guthrie
I am a fully insured and qualified counsellor and Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist based in Bristol, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Solution-Focused Hypnotherapists (AfSFH). I adhere to their codes of ethics and have regular supervision.
Being born with a rare condition and diagnosed with ADHD and Dyspraxia had an impact on me from an early age. I struggled at school and lived with anxiety for as long as I can remember, often feeling different from my friends and peers. It was these early experiences that led me to gravitate towards therapy.
I spent some time travelling, including volunteering as a teaching assistant in a primary school. This helped me appreciate the variety of perspectives that different cultures bring, which informs how I work with each client’s unique frame of reference.
I worked in London and experienced burnout on a couple of occasions. I wanted to change this cycle, so after encouragement from family and friends, I decided to train as a therapist, moving to Bristol in October 2019.
In addition to my private practice, I have counselled students online at Durham University and volunteered at The Swan Project in Bristol, an agency providing trauma-informed therapy for people dealing with complex trauma, loss, and addiction. I am an LGBTQ+ ally.
I started offering Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy and coaching as some clients prefer to work in a more action-orientated way. I have personally received both coaching and hypnotherapy which was of great benefit to me and enhanced my desire to offer these approaches.
I enjoy bringing a spiritually informed approach to my practice for those open to it, and I love helping clients manifest their intentions, whether that is a new job or a relationship
Outside of work, I love being creative, active, and connecting with nature to unwind.
